On the plus side, it was I think a better done adventure story in the present than its predecessor, A Talent for War, which derived mccevitt interest almost entirely from the mystery about the past for me, at least; the adventures there in the present did not seem as compelling. I only have one issue with the story – and it is something that bothers me in general about writing. It is 30 years from now, and we have colonized the moon. Besides the character problems there are holes in the plot you could have driven the Polaris space yacht through. The best writers find a way for danger to happen organically, from seeds that are already there in the story, rather than imposing a lapse of thinking upon basically intelligent characters.
