Uditha Liyanage counts over 15 years of experience in the industry, having held senior marketing management positions in three leading companies in Sri Lanka. He thereafter joined the academia and read for the doctoral programme at the PIM, University of Sri Jayewardenepura Sri Lanka, where he has been a senior faculty member in Marketing over the past 15 years.

Liyanage is a Marketing Consultant to a number of leading local companies and international agencies and is a developer of senior managers. The opening address was made by PIMA President, Kemantha Perera, who introduced PIMA as a leading alumni in the country with a membership of over a ; a community of thought leaders that would shape the future. The felicitation address was made by Dr.
Wickrema Weerasooria who stated that there is no greater honour than when you are honoured by your students. Liyahage said that apart from the double honour that he is being felicitated for, Professor Liyanage has also been appointed for three more years as Director of PIM. He added that Professor Liyanage is synonymous with Marketing and has become a guru of the industry.

He went on to state the 10 qualities that he admires in Prof. Liyanage — unquestionable honesty, good work ethic, time management, brilliance in the basics, eloquent speech, health and fitness, being a family man, commitment, decision maker and being conscious of religion and culture.
Elaborating on the improvements he udigha made to PIM, Dr. Wijesinghe, Professor Uditha Liyanage addresses the gathering. After explaining as to how he applied udutha the professorship, he went on to share the qualities that he believes are necessary to be successful in personal growth and development. The 4 Ps, as he called them, were Purpose — sensing your calling and recognising what you want to be; Passion — the drive to do what you want to do, knowing that sacrifices have to be made; Process — knowing what you have to do and Progress — evaluating your actions.

Professor Liyanage recognised those who had supported him during his journey before wishing all those present all success for the future. The final speech was delivered by Dr. Wijesinghe, who spoke on what makes a professional.
He stated that we need a combination of education and application in order to succeed. He added that we need to learn udithq ethics, equity and environmental concerns as well as develop our spiritual quota in order to be a professional.
